Brumby Arrival on July 28th, Rules Update, Thoroughbred Community Poll, & Foundation Names Changed
Are you ready to hear the news you have been waiting for for so long? The suspense has had our nerves crumbling, thunderstorms have been rumbling over the Australian wildlife park, and our own Mia Brown just told us that the Brumbies have been very busy *cough* brumbling! As a result, there are too many foals and since the lead mare is grumbling, Mia will be opening the wildlife park very soon. She could not be more excited to know that her beloved horses will be stumbling into good homes in the hands of you all. It’s hard to get a hold of her these days as she is tumbling around in a frenzy, mumbling to herself, fumbling with paperwork and doing final preparations here and there!
🐴 Brumby Arrival & Additional Stables 🐴
We will head into maintenance mode on July 28th at 09:00 HR time (CEST) to make sure the big opening of the Australian Wildlife park goes well! Until then, collect wildlife tickets, prepare to head over to Australia, and make room in your stables! Together with the Brumby release, we will add the option to buy 25 additional stables for 500 DP per stable! This raises the maximum number of stables a single person can have from 200 to 225. You may also want to consider buying our July only Kosciuszko National Park Australia background, home to many Brumbies.
🚨 Rules: Updated According to Your Feedback 🚨
Over a month ago, we released new game rules. We received a lot of feedback from our community about them and have now updated them accordingly. Most changes are minor and supposed to add clarity, but rule #6 is completely new. We would like to address a few points in more detail, and as always, if you are unsure of anything, please feel free to contact us or comment down below!
Rule #6: Sensitive topics. We have lately noticed a growing amount of political and religious content in all game areas. This is understandable as these are tough times in real life. Yet, we are first and foremost a horse game and wish to help people get away from the hardships of life for a while. With such contents, conflicts between players spread through the game. We are concerned about the tensions this creates, and have thus implemented rule #6 to help us keep the peace without limiting your freedom too much. It’s been worked out carefully with the gaming experience of our entire community in mind. We will wait seven days before we begin to enforce it to give everybody the chance to adapt to it.
Rule #10: Crediting HR art There has been some confusion about this rule, as our practices have changed a bit. We now require all artwork - including player avatars, profile banners, and quick screenshots dropped in our Discord - to properly credit our game if it includes any art from Horse Reality. Make sure to read up on the details of this rule and update your profiles (and other relevant places) accordingly!
Please read all of our game rules here. We hope this will be the last rules update for a while!

🏇 Thoroughbred Community Poll 🏇
Our Thoroughbreds have us in a bit of a pickle. Their artwork is almost finished and theoretically, we could start to prepare for their arrival after the Brumbies are released. At the same time, there is a big BUT: they require additional coding work that could take several months to complete.
The Thoroughbreds have white spotting variations of the KIT gene that are currently not found in any of the existing breeds in the game. In real life, there are many forms of testable white spotting, labelled w1 through w27. When you look at the bottom of the colour genetics box on your horse’s profile, you see that at this moment we only have four of them coded in the game (w3, w10, w19, w21). For the Thoroughbreds, we would need to add w2, w5, w6, and many more. Because those are not part of our code yet, at this moment it is impossible to add the artwork for those colours to the game - you could not test for those alleles, you could not breed for them, and so on.
As we told you before, the horse profiles will be the last part of the game to move to V2 and we can only add new white spotting alleles after this is done. Which could take quite a while. However, the Thoroughbred artwork is almost finished now, and we know that many of our players are wanting to breed Thoroughbreds and have been awaiting their arrival patiently for a long time already. Which is why we are considering releasing the first batch of Thoroughbreds without the additional white spotting alleles. In contrast, we also know that most of our players prefer it when we release new breeds with all relevant colours available from the beginning.
We have decided that we want to leave this decision up to you, our dedicated community! Please consider the pros and cons as explained below before making a vote!
Should we release the Thoroughbreds without the white spotting (KIT) alleles?
Option 1: Yes
Pro: Shorter waiting time for the breed to arrive
Con: Incomplete coat colours for a potentially long time
If the majority votes for this, we will release the first batch of Thoroughbreds without the new white spotting genes/artwork. The Thoroughbreds would arrive somewhere in the next couple of months. In the meantime, the new development company would progress with the V2 transfer. Once the new KIT variations are ready to get implemented, after the V2 transfer, we would release them into the breed with a new batch of Thoroughbred foundation horses. This could take quite a while. The details would need to get worked out in accordance with our dynamic time schedule.
Option 2: No
Pro: Complete coat colours from the beginning
Con: Longer waiting time for the breed to arrive
If the majority votes for this, we will wait until the V2 transfer is completed and then release the Thoroughbreds with a complete set of genes. As we cannot give any concrete time estimates for when the V2 transfer will be finished, this would generally mean that the Thoroughbreds would not be available at all in the game for quite a while. Once they arrive, though, all colours including the new KIT variations would be available from the beginning.
Please spread this poll far and wide so that as many Horse Reality players as possible have a chance to participate! You can only vote once and you cannot change your vote. You have until July 31st, 23.59 HR time (you can check the time in the upper right corner of the game page) to make your decision. After we close the poll, we will make sure to investigate possible voting fraud. We will publish the results of the poll in our next news announcement.
When spreading the word please share the link to this news article rather than the direct link to the poll. This is to ensure that people have all the information available before they vote.
🎠 Foundation Horse Name Changes 🎠
A bunch of our second-generation foundation horses had spelling errors or other mistakes in their names for quite a while. Fully updating these has been postponed several times, as pressing issues kept taking up our resources. We collected suggestions for name changes in this forum thread and have now updated many of them, as listed in detail at the end of that forum topic. There are still some names on the list that we have not changed yet because we are unsure about what to change them into. We would be very happy to take suggestions from our community members with knowledge in the respective breeds! Just post your ideas in the thread.
